week seven :: MTC

Well, it's official. I will be heading to Korea two weeks from yesterday. We get our travel plans on Thursday, and last night we got our hang-guck-ser-ang (the native Korean missionaries who will be here the next two weeks and then will be entering the field the same time as us :)) Kinda crazy!

So on Sunday I gave the closing prayer at sacrament meeting, in KOREAN!! I was nervous anyways because that is intense, and it was the first sunday for all of the new missionaries. So I'm nervous when all of a sudden, right before the sacrament was blessed, in enters the President of the MTC. And don't worry, he was accompanied by Elder Evans of the First Quorum of the Seventy! Let's just say that my nerves went up!! A lot!!! But I prayed, and it went good! I didn't use any cheat sheet, and he shook my hand after and complimented me and said to just keep speaking even if it is wrong, and it will come.

Also last Tuesday for our devotional, Elder Scott came and spoke!! It was amazing!!! When he was finishing, he said he felt inspired to give us an apostolic blessing. He blessed us to not just learn but to master the language, that serving will be a rich blessing. He reminded us to write down principles and experiences God has given us because it gives us the basis to grow. He talked to the sisters saying we had made the choice to serve, and it will enrich our lives, enrich our relationship with our husband, and guide us as we raise children. He blessed us with peace that we won't be asked to do anything we can't do, that our efforts will be eased as we remind the Lord He has called us to learn this language and everything.

Then the girl got up to pray after the closing song, Elder Scott got up real quick and ran over to the pulpit in front of her and said he wanted to say more. He said to remember the Lord has called you to succeed, He will not abandon you, He knows you, and that our calls are inspired calls. He reminded us that God has given us the opportunity to discover things about us we never knew, that we would find strength beyond our imagination, and that we have been called and He will fit the call to our capacity! It was amazing!

This is when we hosted new missionaries. AKA, we got to take the poor wide-eyed
peeps to their dorms AKA lug their crap up stairs, then show them around,
and then drop them off in class, which if it is a language (especially Korean),
they got the biggest shock of their lives!

 Getting to escape with my companion to the ortho.
Best day ever!

While at the ortho, I ran into these lovely strangers. :)
Best day ever!
Some of you may remember Lisabeth Brimley?
Well, I ran into her at the temple. She has been here for two weeks
and is going to Brazil. Love this cute girl! :)

We had some changes in the MTC, including class schedules.
Unfortunately, this meant losing our favorite teacher, Brother Tanner.
This is our last class with him. We will miss him so much!
